Tracking competitor award wins
How to use Intelligence to monitor which awards your competitors are winning and what that tells you.
Updated
Competitor award monitoring tells you which programmes your competitors are winning, how frequently they enter, and where they're concentrating effort. That's useful context for deciding which awards to prioritise.
Adding a competitor to track
Go to Intelligence → Competitors → Add competitor. Enter the competitor's website domain (e.g. acme.com). Awardica will search its database for awards they've been listed as winning and begin monitoring for new wins.
You can track up to the number of competitors your plan allows. The count is shown at the top of the Competitors page.
What you can see
For each tracked competitor:
- Awards won — a timeline of wins, sorted newest first
- Programmes entered — the award programmes they participate in, even when they haven't won (where this data exists)
- Categories entered — useful for spotting niche categories they're targeting
- Win rate — wins as a proportion of known entries (where entry data is available)
What this data is good for
Choosing programmes. If three competitors regularly enter and win in a particular programme, it's a strong signal the award is credible and that your category is competitive. If no credible competitors are in it, that might mean the award isn't worth much — or that there's an easy win available.
Writing entries. If you can see that a competitor won "Business of the Year" last cycle, you can sometimes find their winning submission in the press and use it as a benchmark for quality and framing.
Internal advocacy. Leadership sometimes needs to see that "everyone in our space does this" before approving an awards budget. A competitor win list is useful evidence.
Data limitations
Competitor data comes from public sources — award programme websites, press releases, and industry databases. Coverage varies: some programmes publish all winners publicly; others only announce finalists or are selective about what they share. If a competitor has won awards not on Awardica's radar, they won't appear.
Data is best-effort, not exhaustive. Use it for directional insight, not definitive competitive analysis.
Removing a competitor
Go to Intelligence → Competitors, open the competitor card, and click Remove. Their win history is removed from your view. Removing a competitor doesn't affect anything in your own pipeline or award history.
