Managing applications

How the pipeline works

Track every award you are considering through five stages, from initial research to a result, with tasks and deadlines attached to each one.

Updated

The pipeline is where award work actually happens. Browse is for deciding what to enter; the pipeline is for getting entries finished on time.

The five stages

Every award you add sits in one of five stages:

StageWhat it means
ResearchingEvaluating fit and eligibility. You have not committed.
ApplyingApplication in progress.
SubmittedEntry is in. Waiting on the result.
WonRecognition received.
Didn't WinNot selected this cycle.

Keeping Didn't Win rather than deleting the card matters — next year's decision about whether to re-enter is much easier when you can see you already tried twice.

Adding an award

  1. Find the award in Browse Awards or Recommended.
  2. Open it, or hover its row in the list.
  3. Choose Add to pipeline. It lands in Researching.

The card carries the award's deadline and entry fee across with it, so you do not re-enter them by hand.

Moving a card

Drag it to another column in Kanban view, or change the stage field in Table view. Nothing is locked — you can move a card backwards if an entry stalls.

Three views of the same data

The pipeline has three views, and they are the same cards presented differently. Switch between them from the sidebar under Pipeline.

Kanban — the default. Best for seeing where work is bunching up.

Table — sortable rows. Best for scanning fees, deadlines, and stages together, and for bulk review.

Calendar — cards laid out by date. Best for spotting the week where four deadlines land at once.

Tasks and deadlines

Each card holds its own task list — the steps needed to get that entry submitted. Tasks can have their own due dates, and can be anchored to one of the award's dates rather than a fixed day, so an early-bird task moves if the publisher moves the date.

Tasks and Deadlines in the sidebar are cross-cutting views: every task across every card, and every upcoming date across your whole pipeline. Use the card for working on one entry, and those views for planning your week.

Availability

The pipeline requires a Pro or Agency plan. On Free you can save awards to a shortlist from Saved, but not track them through stages.
