Washington DC CFO of the Year

Overview

Washington Business Journal’s CFO of the Year Awards (Washington, DC) honor top chief financial officers for outstanding financial leadership, strategic impact, and contributions to their organizations and the region’s business community. Run by the Washington Business Journal (part of American City Business Journals), the program recognizes both public and private company CFOs as well as nonprofit and government finance leaders. Companies pursue it for regional visibility, credibility with investors and peers, and editorial coverage in the Journal’s print and online channels. Winners are selected via an editorial-driven process informed by nominations rather than a pay-to-play model.

Eligibility Requirements

• Nominee must serve in a senior financial leadership role (commonly titled CFO, VP of Finance, or equivalent) at an organization based in or with significant operations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
• Achievements and impact highlighted in the nomination must largely have occurred within the past 12–18 months prior to the 2026 awards cycle.
• Nominator must complete the Washington Business Journal’s online nomination form in full by the stated 2026 deadline; self-nominations are typically allowed.
