Overview

The Washington Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 is an editorial award recognizing Greater Washington’s top young business leaders with strong professional achievement, innovation, and community involvement. It is run by the Washington Business Journal, a respected regional business publication, and honorees are profiled by the paper. Companies and nominees pursue it for visibility, peer recognition, and the credibility that comes with being selected by a newsroom-led program rather than a purely pay-to-play contest.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must live and work in the Washington, DC region
• Must be under age 40 as of February 19, 2026
• Must be an established business leader with a strong record of innovation, performance, and community involvement
