Overview

Kansas City Business Journal’s Best Places to Work honors companies in the Kansas City metropolitan area that achieve outstanding employee engagement and workplace culture. The program is run by the Kansas City Business Journal in partnership with a third‑party survey firm that gathers confidential employee feedback to determine finalists and winners. Organizations pursue it for regional visibility, employer‑branding value, and as a credential in recruiting and retention. Results are data‑driven rather than pay‑to‑play, giving it solid credibility among regional business awards.

Eligibility Requirements

• Company must be located in or have a significant presence in the Kansas City metropolitan area (Ray, Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte counties in Missouri; Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas, per program notes)
• Must meet minimum employee count threshold in the Kansas City region as defined by the survey partner (typically 10–25+ employees locally)
• Must complete the nomination form and agree to participate in an employee engagement survey administered by the Business Journal’s research partner by the specified survey deadline
