Houston Business Journal’s annual Health Care Heroes awards (sometimes branded as Healthcare Heroes or Heroes in Healthcare) honor individuals and organizations in the Greater Houston area who have made significant contributions to health care, patient outcomes, and community wellbeing. The program is run editorially by the Houston Business Journal, a regional business news outlet under American City Business Journals. Organizations pursue it for local visibility, third‑party validation, and coverage in HBJ’s print and digital channels, plus recognition at an awards event. Selection is based on editorial review of nominations rather than a pay‑to‑play model.

Eligibility Requirements

• Nominee must be an individual or organization working in or closely with the health care sector in the Greater Houston area
• Nominee’s work must demonstrate a significant, recent impact on patient care, health care innovation, or community health
• Nominator must submit an online form with a detailed description of accomplishments; supporting materials such as letters of recommendation or metrics are strongly encouraged
