It is run by Crain Communications and is used by companies for local credibility, recruiting, business development, and media visibility; the list is a recognized regional benchmark with published rankings and public methodology/eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Requirements

• Headquartered in the seven-county Chicago area
• At least five years of consistent year-over-year revenue growth
• Minimum $15 million in revenue in the most recent qualifying year
• Public and privately held companies may apply, subject to program rules
